Florida International University-Artemis Collaborative Exploration (FIU-ACE)

About our work:

The project  – completed in 2021– was designed as a planning effort aiming to promote NASA’s Space Technology Mission Directorate (STMD) opportunities at Florida International University (FIU) through activities that engaged talented faculty and students to learn about research programs with NASA STMD.

The ultimate goal of this short-term (four mounts) effort was to prepare an FIU action plan to deliver high caliber research and technology advancements in support to Artemis and other NASA missions, while preparing and engaging the next generation of explorers in NASA-related science.

The objectives accomplished:

Objective 1 : Increased FIU’s readiness to pursue funding opportunities offered by NASA in support of the Artemis program.

Objective 2 : Developed an actionable plan for responding to NASA STMD opportunities.

Objective 3 : Increase FIU capacity to develop student knowledge and skills in aerospace- related research.

The activities supporting these objectives included two faculty workshops with NASA participation which led to identification of areas of common interest, and professional development activities for students. The project team produced a brochure highlighting the participating faculty profiles and areas of expertise (link below).
